China Puppetry Art Theatre was established in 1955, which was transformed on September 15th, 2006 and reformed into a limited liability company. On July 27th, 2012, the company furthered the structural reform and established the joint-stock company with Beijing Performance & Arts Group and Beijing Zhaohua Culture and Media Co. Ltd as stockholders.

China Puppetry Art Theatre has altogether created and performed 20 large child plays, 62 textbook and bilingual puppet shows. The large-scale fantasy show Monkey King•Mountain of Flowers and Fruits won the Five “One” Project Prize for the spiritual civilization awarded by Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the CPC. The second part Monkey King•At the East China Sea won six major awards of “The First National Drama Culture Award”. In the year 2012, China Puppetry Art Theatre invested more than RMB 5 million Yuan in the construction of the “Animal Castle” in Beijing Zoo, where the fantastic play Animal United is performed with the audience reception of 380,000 people and a box office of RMB 8.31 million Yuan. Over the seven years since its establishment, China Puppetry Art Theater has realized the development goals of creating quality goods, teams, brands and benefits.

China Puppetry Art Theater also forged a large-scale indoor themed children’s park --- the “Puppet Castle” centered by puppetry performances. It has not only improved itself from simple puppetry performances toward the comprehensive children’s entertainment industry, but formed a children’s cultural industrial chain that integrates performances, film and television, cartoons, books, toys, food and drink, and realized the chain-store operations of the “Puppet Castle” all around China.
