Jiangsu Cultural Industries Group is the first state-owned cultural enterprise established by the provincial government in 2003. The Group has awarded the investment qualifications of state-owned assets , and structured in accordance with the modern enterprise system.
Currently, the Group is principally engaged in the following fields, the production and distribution of film and television drama, construction and operation of the film base, education and training and cultural exhibitions, etc.
The Group has invested and produced 40 films and TV series over the past few years, including Salt Merchants of the Qing, You are My Happiness, The Admiral, Battle of Nanjing, Sharp Sword, Rather Be Women, East Meet West 2011 and Nightmare, etc. The works almost swept all the national level awards, such as Central Propaganda Department ‘Five One Program Award’, first prize of Army Drama Venus Award, China Movie Award, Flying Goddess Award, and China TV Golden Eagle Award. Some TV series broadcasted on CCTV 1 and the provincial satellite TV have ratings among the best in prime-time, or even created the new high for the year. At the same time, the Group has actively promoted international business strategies by advancing the introduction of the international films, including The War with Prince Caesar(Astérix aux Jeux Olympiques), and Kiss of True Love, and publicizing the works to Hong Kong, Japan, Canada and other regions. At present, Jiangsu Ganquan Film Outsourcing Base has also being promoted. The Base is invested and constructed by the Group, and its planning area is more than 1,000 acres. The filming locations with various styles, including Shanghai style location, Ming and Qing architecture sets, the ancient city gates, slums and barracks, as well as props factory and actors’ apartment have been accomplished during the first-stage project. The largest monomer indoor standard studio in China, which is 6994 square meters in construction area, has built and enabled in the second-stage project. This Studio has been highly praised by numerous film crew.
The exploration and practicing of Jiangsu Cultural Industries Group in the fields of State-owned cultural assets management and operation mechanism has caused highly concerns from all sectors of society. Hundreds of Chinese and foreign media, including Xinhua News Agency, People';;;;s Daily, and Reuters, Washington Post of the United States, Asahi Shimbun of Japan, have published reports and reviews on the Group. In 2004, Jiangsu Cultural Industries Group was named as ‘National Cultural Industries Model Base’ by the Ministry of Culture. In the same year, Dr. Li Xiangmin, the Group Chairman was elected as one of the ‘Top10 Outstanding Figures of China Cultural Industries’. In 2005, the Xinhua News Agency published an article evaluating Jiangsu Cultural Industries Group has created "the Third Way" of the cultural industries development in China . In 2006, the Group and Nanjing University of Aeronautics And Astronautics co-built a Cultural Industries Research Center, which listed by the Ministry of Culture as the ‘National Cultural Industries Research Center’.
