CCIA Meeting with Australia NSW Council

To implement the practical initiative of President Xi Jinping’s spirit of promoting Sino-Australian collaborations in all areas and strengthening cultural exchanges during the state visit, the delegation of China Cultural Industry Association visited Australia from 20th to 27th November, 2014, to conduct research study on cultural industries and to promote the establishment of Sino-Australian cultural exchange platform.
Invited by New South Wales Government, the delegation of CCIA arrived in Sydney On 20th November, 2014, to meet with Mr. Daryl Maguire, Australia Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier; Mr. Jonathan O’Dea, Chair of Public Accounts Committee and Treasurer of Asia Pacific Friendship Group; Ms. Clare Nadas, Manager of Policy and Partnerships in Arts NSW; Mr. Greg Withers, Director of Policy and Strategy in Arts NSW; and Ms. Grainne Brunsdon, Manager of Stakeholder Relations in Screen NSW.
Mr. Daryl Maguire, on behalf of NSW Premier Mr. Mike Baird, welcomed CCIA delegation. Mr. Maguire indicated that NSW Premier and government representatives warmly received President Xi on 19th November, with discussions about Sino-Australian bilateral economic and cultural cooperation. He was delighted to welcome CCIA delegation the second day after President Xi’s visit, with practical negotiation to promote Sino-Australian cooperation in terms of cultural industry. Since the establishment of Sino-Australian diplomatic relations, the cooperation in all areas between the two counties maintains favorable development trend with abundant achievements. The Government of New South Wales constantly attaches importance to the development of cultural industry and thinks highly of exchanges with China in all aspects.
Mr. Zhang Bin indicated that during President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Australia, China and Australia decided to upgrade their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership, practically conclude bilateral negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement, and establish a communication and cooperation mechanism between governors of the two countries’ provinces and states, which contributed to NSW developing its cooperation with China. Through visiting Australia, on one hand, CCIA aimed to implement the spirit of President Xi according to his speech at the Federal Parliament of Australia, through organizing “Silk Road-A Road to Innovation” themed exhibition and introducing cultural connotation of 21st Century Silk Road to Australian people; on the other hand, CCIA hoped to promote Sino-Australian cultural exchanges, through cooperation with NSW Government, and to build strategic cooperation platform for
excellent enterprises in China and Australia which encourages bilateral and practical collaborations in areas of cultural industry, such as films, sport, animations, games, etc. The establishment of strategic cooperation platform would greatly accelerate exchanges and developments in Chinese and Australian enterprises. Mr. Daryl Maguire spoke highly of Mr. Zhang Bin’s opinion.CCIA and NSW Government agreed to sign jointly the Strategic Partnership Agreement immediately and launch cooperation plans for specific projects.
On 21st November, CCIA delegation met with Ms. Maureen Barron and discussed about the Strategic Partnership Agreement and possibilities of collaboration in films and TV.
